APRIL 16, 2014 is National Health Care Decisions Day. Honoring Choices Minnesota would like to break all past records in the number of advance care planning education talks delivered throughout the community this spring.
National Healthcare Decisions Day was started in 2006 to bring together organizations and individuals across the country on one day to promote the importance of advance care planning for all. For more information on NHDD and to see what other communities are planning, visit their website.
- Set up a display about the importance of Advance Care Planning (ACP) in the lobby of your workplace, gym, club, church, or other group.
- Send a letter to the editor of your local paper outlining why ACP is important to you - personal stories are the best!
- Contact local civic, service, and community groups and offer to coordinate an event or presentation on ACP for their memberships
- Alert your local elected officials and community leaders to NHDD. Ask them to make mention of it in their meetings as the date approaches.
Every little bit helps spread the world of the importance of ACP! Please let us know what efforts you undertake in your home community.
