Grant applications are accepted throughout the year; however, funding decisions are made annually in late fall. Application deadline is October 1. Please complete the Minnesota Common Grant Application for funding consideration. To see a listing of grant recipients click here.

 
Criteria For Awarding Grants:

1) Geographic
Grants will be awarded predominatly in the Minneapolis west metro area.

2) Type of Organization
The major focus of grants will be to tax-exempt entities.

3) Size of Grant
There is no maximum.

4) One-Time vs. Repeat Grants
Both types of grants are considered.

5) One-Year vs Multiple Year Grants
One-year grants are favored over multiple year grants.

6) Seed Money vs. Program Grants
Both types of requests are considered but preference is given for seed money.

7) Operating Grants vs. Program Grants
The Foundation focuses on program grants.

8) Funding of Capital or Equipment Costs
Limited equipment costs will be considered for funding.

Requests the Foundation Normally Will Not Fund:
  • Public Agencies
  • Capital expenses (with the exceptioni of equipment)
  • Media and arts projects
  • Annual contributions to operating budgets
  • Endowments
  • Religious organizations for direct religious expenses
  • Financing of deficits
  • Memberships
  • Political organizations or candidates
  • Veteran's organizations, fraternal societies orders
  • Courtesy advertising or tickets for benefits
  • National fundraising efforts
  • Research
