Kenneth Kephart, MD, will join the Minnesota Dept. of Human Services (MDHS) "Own Your Future" advisory panel. Stefan Pomrenke, MD, is representing physician advance care planning perspectives in 6 Minnesota pilot communities.
Kenneth Kephart, MD, Medical Director at Fairview Geriatric Services and a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the U of MN Medical School, will join the Minnesota Dept. of Human Services (MDHS) "Own Your Future" advisory panel. Dr. Kephart will provide a physician's perspective and recommendations to the taskforce, under the direction of Lucinda Jesson, MDHS Commissioner. Dr. Kephart will help to raise awareness in the health care provider community of not only assuring patient health but also understanding the importance that individuals need to plan ahead for how they will pay for health care services in the future. The goals of this panel are:
- To raise awareness in MN about long-term care needs;
- To increase the number of Minnesotans that have LTC resources;
- To develop LTC products that are affordable for more Minnesotans.
"Meeting the needs of aging Minnesotans is a tremendous challenge, and one that is critical to our state's quality of life" states Commissioner Jesson. "Together we can build on Minnesota's tradition of innovation and caring and continue to provide long-term care, that is second to none."
 Stefan Pomrenke, MD, Medical Director to the Honoring Choices Minnesota (HCM) faith-based program funded by the Bush Foundation, is representing physician advance care planning perspectives in 6 Minnesota pilot communities.
These communities currently include Hibbing, Stillwater, Saint Cloud, Worthington, the Frogtown/Summit-University/Hamline-Midway areas of Saint Paul and Minneapolis's northwest metro border counties. Dr. Pomrenke is also helping design program content for the training of pilot area Faith Ambassadors through our MN Council of Churches partnership.
