Consider these facts for a moment: According to the National Policy & Legal Analysis Network, “Today more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or obese, and among children and adolescents, 16.3 are percent are obese and 31.9 percent are overweight or obese. Obese children are likely to become obese adults: in fact, an obese older teenager has up to an 80 percent chance of becoming an obese adult.” In Minnesota, approximately 25.7 percent of adults are obese and according to a recent study from Trust for America’s Health, if we continue on the current track that number could rise to 54.7% by the year 2030. |
